PONY CANYON FIGURE, the figure brand of Pony Canyon, has released a new beautiful girl figure! Based on the TV anime “2.5 Dimensional Seduction,” which aired season1 starting from July 2024, “Liliel Angel School spin-off Training Suit/Ririsa” 1/7 scale figure is now available for pre-order until February 17, 2025 (Mon) at 11:59 PM JST.
We interviewed the talented sculptor and painter of this figure to discuss their creative process, highlights, and challenges. The following interview reveals their deep love not only for the figures, but also for the anime and characters.
■ “Sculptors feel the same passion as Ririsa” How to Color the Real World
- What was your vision for this figure of Lilliel/Ririsa?
Mr. Fujisawa: When I received the original concept, I imagined a scene where Ririsa is getting ready in cosplay before a photo shoot. I tried to express her reflection in the mirror and her attitude of enjoying cosplay.
- What aspects did you focus on most, or what parts did you do something special to make cosplay into a figure?
Mr. Fujisawa: I used photos of actual coslayers as reference material for the cosplay costume production process and material. The cosplay costume of the figure is tight and sexy, but I made it look bright and cute.
- What challenges or difficulties did you face?
Mr. Fujisawa: I am always searching for what kind of gestures and atmosphere fans are looking for. I usually work on male characters, so I needed to focus on what makes female characters appealing. I studied many figures, paying close attention to how clothing and skin interact and how the character’s gaze draws attention. I aimed for a figure that can be enjoyed from every angle. Personally, I like the expression of the hands when viewed from the back.
- Do you draw inspiration from or feel influenced by figures made by others?
Mr. Fujisawa: Of course, I frequently collect figures as reference materials. Every sculptor brings out unique quirks and ways of showcasing a character, even when working on the same character. I try to continuously “steal and learn” from others in a positive and curious way.
- What do you find attractive about Lilliel/Ririsa?
Mr. Fujisawa: I believe Ririsa has an attitude of “I love being in the world of cosplay the most,” and I think that that passion makes everyone around her smile. Sculptors feel the same passion for their craft as Ririsa does. I believe that expression is interesting because it is the world as it is that you are first and foremost absorbed in. The things created by an expressive person lightly leap over the dimension of fiction and color the real world. I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with “2.5 Dimensional Seduction” through figure-making. Thank you so much!

■ Requested the coloring job of Nigoriri! Behind the Colors and Craftsmanship
- What was your vision for coloring this figure of Lilliel/Ririsa?
Take: I focused on colors that enhance the sculpted details, from gradients and fabric textures to the softness of the skin. My goal was to make Lilliel enjoyable to view from every angle.
- What aspects did you focus on most?
Take: I worked hard to replicate the semi-transparent texture of the tights, making them look sheer and delicate. For the wings and the pink parts of the cosplay costume, I tested several pearl coatings and chose the best option. (I also put a lot of thought into the shadows on the thighs and on the cleavage!)
- What challenges or difficulties did you face in the painting process?
Take: White costumes can appear dirty if shading isn’t applied carefully, so I paid close attention to avoid this. Balancing the overall color scheme with the pink elements was another focus while painting.
- Do you draw inspiration from or feel influenced by figures made by others?
Take: Definitely. Whether it’s professionals or hobbyists, there are so many incredible talents out there. I’m always learning and attending events or exhibitions whenever I can to gather ideas.
- What do you find attractive about Lilliel/Ririsa?
Take: I think it's the way she enjoys facing her favorite things with all her might. I can relate to the creative subject of cosplay costume making, and I love this character and story. I was looking forward to seeing the story develop into something hot and exciting as it progressed.
On a personal note, I discovered this series through the anime and became an instant fan. I even directly asked my supervisor, “Can I please color ‘Nigoriri?” and ended up with this incredible opportunity. (Of course, I’ve read the manga up to the latest volume too!) Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity!
